This year has brought many changes and challenges for SENsational families and to those families we support.
We've continued to offer our Family Support services by running online groups, 1:1 video and phone support, Facebook support group and our grocery hunt group for those needing help with obtaining food items needed for SEND children due to dietary needs.
During the first lockdown we wanted to let our SENsational Children know that they were in our thoughts and that they were doing a fantastic job. We sent over 750 Norfolk children one of our sensory smile's boxes and through the kindness of our friends at Norwich Community Sports, we delivered 50 Norwich City Goodie Bags. During the summer we felt that Parent Carers were struggling to support their families while still looking after their own wellbeing, so we sent 200 self-care boxes to those in need of a treat.
We have joined 27 steering groups since January with Education, Health and Social Care providers to ensure that families feedback has been given to the people that commission services and passed information back to our families to keep them up to date with all the changes that have happened throughout the year.
This year we have seen the biggest increase in demand for our support services and have welcomed 2 new Family Support Advisors, Jonny and Leo to the team. Each of our team have a wealth of knowledge and experience and most importantly, they are passionate about supporting SEND families and will go above and beyond to help. This was highlighted when we won the Broadland Community Team of the Year Award in November and were finalists for the stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards for the second year running.
We will all be spending time with our families over the Christmas period so our services will be closed from the 18th December 2020 to the 4th January 2021. If you would like any information or resources please use our website: www.sensationalfamilies.org.uk
We can't wait to see you all in 2021!
